Catch a Komet

Description

The Nazis and Japanese signed the Tripartite Pact along with Italy in the fall of 1940. Almost exactly four years later, The Japanese Minister of War, Hajime Sugiyama, signs a document whereby the Nazis agree to ship war materials by submarine to Japan including their Messerschmitt Me-163 Komet, the first rocket-powered fighter in the world.

Master Sergeant Tom Dunn, a U.S. Ranger, and his squad are tasked with destroying the submarine, which intelligence reports is being repaired at the submarine pens in Bergen, Norway. But first they must undergo rigorous scuba training.

Colonel Rupert Jenkins has a surprise in store for British Army Commando Sergeant Major Malcolm Saunders. Shortly after, Saunders is assigned to help the Free French SAS capture and protect bridges in the Netherlands, just hours in advance of the British Second Army’s big spring push eastward. Can Saunders and his men work with the French and accomplish their mission?

The Air Technical Intelligence (ATI) asks Colonel Kenton to “acquire” a German Me-163 Komet for study. He assigns the seemingly impossible job to Tom Dunn and they will have company: Major Norman Miller, who gained notoriety for stealing the Germans’ jet bomber in Operation Devil’s Fire. Who better to fly a rocket plane?

Can Dunn’s lethal squad take over a German airfield in the middle of the night and help Miller get the temperamental and volatile rocket plane into the air, and back to a British airfield?

Munsterman, a master of weaving facts and fiction into compelling suspenseful WWII action thrillers, creates yet another story based on WWII events. Catch a Komet shows readers how complex and seemingly impossible missions are conducted by those who excel at their jobs.

Remembering Pearl Harbor

Today, we remember and honor those who fought or were killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941.

The American response to the horrific attack was far more dangerous to the Japanese than they realized. At home, the public was outraged and galvanized with lines and lines of men signing up for service the day after.

The military, especially the U.S. Navy, was incensed and vowed, along with American civilians, to avenge Pearl Harbor.

And they did. No U.S. carriers were at Pearl, a complete failure of Japanese intelligence. You can draw a direct line from this failure (and the failure to destroy the oil supply at Pearl) to the annihilation of the Japanese Imperial Navy's four carriers at Midway. Where were our carriers? Read here.

This decisive battle led to the eventual victory in the Pacific.

Sgt. Dunn Novel #16, Rogue Nazis – Cover Reveal And Publication Announcement

Hello Sgt. Dunn readers!

I’m pleased to reveal the cover for Sgt. Dunn Novel #16, Rogue Nazis. I plan to release it tomorrow (Monday, August 29th). The description is below. David M. Jones (Jonesy) created the wonderful cover.

Rogue Nazis

In 1936 German scientists accidentally created a horribly toxic chemical while attempting to make a new pesticide. Two years later, refined and called Sarin gas, it was moved to the Spandau Citadel in Berlin, the Nazis' chemical warfare center. The gas is so potent, it can kill humans in just twenty minutes.

In Tunisia after the Afrika Korps surrendered in 1943, a bright, perceptive British intelligence officer interrogates a German prisoner who used to work at Spandau. What he learns terrifies him. However, his report, when received in London, is stamped NO FURTHER ACTION REQUIRED and filed away.

Unbeknownst to the Allies, the director of Spandau Citadel, an SS officer, and three other rogue Nazis are planning to use the Sarin gas against the British using V2 rockets. This goes against the Führer, Adolf Hitler’s, firm belief it should not be used.

Meanwhile, U.S. Army Ranger Master Sergeant Tom Dunn and a platoon of lethal Rangers and British Commandos parachute into Germany near Kassel. Their objective is to destroy the German Tiger II tank’s main production facility, ruining the Nazis ability to make the newer, deadly tank for months.

Alan Finch, a special assistant to Prime Minister Churchill, has come face to face with the British intelligence officer, currently assigned to the War Office, and works with his friend, Reggie Shepston, at Bletchley Park to find out exactly what the Nazis are doing.

No sooner has Dunn returned from Kassel than he learns about the Sarin gas threat from Finch and is assigned to break into Spandau Citadel, locate the Sarin gas production line and storage, and destroy them. He and his men are going to be the first Allied soldiers to step foot in the enemy’s capital of Berlin.

Can Dunn and his men complete the dangerous, critical mission or will the Rogue Nazis be a step ahead?

In book sixteen of the Sgt. Dunn Novels, Munsterman, a master of taking real WWII history and creating suspenseful action thrillers, shows us what remarkable soldiers in the field can do when faced with unthinkable horror.
