On 19 March 1945, madman Adolf Hitler issues a scorched earth proclamation ordering those in charge of production facilities to destroy everything that could assist the advancing Allied forces. He’d rather his people, who he declares failed him and the Fatherland, starve and die than let the Allies help them.

In an extraordinarily unusual mission, U.S. Army Ranger Master Sergeant Tom Dunn is tasked—not with blowing something up—but with saving a crucial Ruhr Valley electrical power plant from Hitler’s horrific scheme. He takes along a team of Royal Engineers who will operate the plant if Dunn can capture it intact. The Nazi SS officer in charge of the plant has received Hitler’s scorched earth decree and intends to uphold it. At any cost.

Saunders, a recently promoted Second Lieutenant, is temporarily assigned to a Commando Brigade on the northeast coast of Italy. There he and his platoon will fight the Germans on what is called the Spit, a strip of land between the Adriatic Sea and Lake Comacchio. Their targets include fortifications with Biblical names, and bridges over canals. Can Saunders and his men carry their attacks to a successful conclusion?

Later, Dunn meets with his commander, Colonel Kenton, and Major Peter Fisher of U.S. Army Military Intelligence. The Nazis have dreamt up another bizarre and deadly threat, the schallkanone, the sonic cannon. Using the physics of sounds waves against human physiology, the weapon can disable and even kill a human being from a distance. Military Intelligence has located the production facility southeast of Nuremberg. Dunn and his platoon must assault the facility and destroy all the weapons before they’re turned loose on Patton’s Third Army north of Nuremberg. Will he and his dedicated and deadly Rangers be able to stop the Nazis plan in time?

Weird writing mistake

Every now and again I make weird mistakes, but I often don't find them until days or weeks after I wrote them. Here's one from Sergeant Dunn novel #18. And I had to read it twice to realize the problem.

This was to combat the constant Allied bombing, both day and night that took place day and night.

Just a reminder that World War II in Europe ended today, 78 years ago. These are some of the men who died freeing the continent from the Nazis.

Almost exactly four years later, The Japanese Minister of War, Hajime Sugiyama, signs a document whereby the Nazis agree to ship war materials by submarine to Japan including their Messerschmitt Me-163 Komet, the first rocket-powered fighter in the world. 

Master Sergeant Tom Dunn, a U.S. Ranger, and his squad are tasked with destroying the submarine, which intelligence reports is being repaired at the submarine pens in Bergen, Norway. But first they must undergo rigorous scuba training.

Colonel Rupert Jenkins has a surprise in store for British Army Commando Sergeant Major Malcolm Saunders. Shortly after, Saunders is assigned to help the Free French SAS capture and protect bridges in the Netherlands, just hours in advance of the British Second Army’s big spring push eastward. Can Saunders and his men work with the French and accomplish their mission?

The Air Technical Intelligence (ATI) asks Colonel Kenton to “acquire” a German Me-163 Komet for study. He assigns the seemingly impossible job to Tom Dunn and they will have company: Major Norman Miller, who gained notoriety for stealing the Germans’ jet bomber in Operation Devil’s Fire. Who better to fly a rocket plane?

Can Dunn’s lethal squad take over a German airfield in the middle of the night and help Miller get the temperamental and volatile rocket plane into the air, and back to a British airfield?
